Namaste Care

An approach based on perceiving needs and fulfilling them

{

In my profession I now know that I can slow down and pause for a moment for the good feeling of the client and myself. Slowing down and touch are enriching.

The Namaste Care approach was created by American practitioner Joyce Simard as a meaningful way to spend time with people in the advanced stages of dementia. Its main principles – slowing down, a pleasant environment, gentle touch, and attention – can be used as a way to manage care for clients, but also as a form of self‑care for caregivers. Today, this approach is used in thirteen countries around the world.

In the Czech Republic, its exclusive ambassador is Simona Bagarová, founder of the organization MILA. Namaste care has been taught from the very beginning by Karolína Puttová, who knows how to listen and respond quickly and formulate what the other person needs.

Namaste care is an opportunity to build and strengthen the relationship between caregivers and clients, and also the relationship caregivers have with themselves.

„Namaste care is a different kind of time with clients. As if the clients were different too.“

„The course brought me a summary of my life philosophy. Kindness to myself and everyone I meet every day is the greatest gift I can give myself. Life is a gift. Thank you for reminding people of this so beautifully.“
